Steve Ascher is an Emmy Award–winning producer and Executive Vice President of A+E Factual Studios, where he oversees the creation and production of premium unscripted series, specials, and documentaries for the A+E portfolio across the company’s multiplatform ecosystem, and also for leading global streaming platforms and international partners.
Since his appointment, Ascher has helped drive a bold expansion across genres – spanning history, culture, sports, social impact, and celebrity-led storytelling – while building a slate designed for a rapidly evolving global marketplace. A+E Factual Studios is also developing projects in the microdrama space, applying its premium factual storytelling to mobile-first, short-form episodic formats.
Under his leadership, the studio has produced more than 1,500 hours of programming, including the Emmy-nominated Black Patriots: Heroes of the Revolution with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard; 15 Minutes of Shame for HBO Max, executive produced alongside Monica Lewinsky; The UnBelievable with Dan Aykroyd; Best in Snow for Disney+; Dance Moms: A New Era for Hulu; Ground breakers with Billie Jean King for PBS; Madden NFL 25: It’s in the Game for Amazon Prime Video; and WWII with Tom Hanks for The HISTORY® Channel and many more
Ascher is also leading the launch of a new AI studio within A+E, focused on pushing the boundaries of factual storytelling through emerging technology, including The Bible Revealed, an event series for HISTORY that uses AI to bring the story of the Bible to life in visually ambitious and culturally resonant ways.
Prior to his current role, Ascher served as an Executive Producer at The HISTORY Channel and earlier worked at NBC News, reporting from around the world. He lives in New York with his wife and children.
